About Us

Ackee Tree is an organisation dedicated to improving the socio-economic position of Afrikan descent people, particularly those with  connections to the Caribbean.

Initially started in 2003 as BACUSA, the name was changed to Ackee Tree and the organisation re-launched in 2005. Ackee Tree’s s focus, when first established, was to assist Jamaicans and their descendants to improve their quality of life.

Since then Ackee Tree has widened its perspective and focused its mission on “Nation Building”. Our logo has been modified to incorporate the West Afrikan Adinkra symbol Nkonsonkonson (“chain link”), a symbol of unity and human relations; also a reminder that in unity there is strength.

Our mission is “to lobby, campaign and make representation so as to achieve improved quality of life for people of Afrikan descent.

Ackee Tree’s Aims & Objectives

*

Ackee Tree is able to achieve its mission through collaboration, with other agencies and with the commitment of a dedicated group of volunteers. Individuals who support Ackee Tree’s mission sometimes make one-off donations. Donations, weather in cash or in kind, are always welcomed.
